My Advice for Writing a Scientific Research Paper

I would like to say that my first advice for someone who is writing a scientific research paper would be to perform a detailed and thorough search of information on your topic or in relation to your topic in order obtain a wealth of information. Along with the wealth of information the information that you collect would be a great tool for creating ideas for your paper. In the past ten weeks I feel that my APA formatting skills have improved tremendously. I know am very conscious and alert on properly citing all the information that I am using in my research to avoid plagiarism. On the other hand, I think that I do to improve my writing skills. It is hard for me at times to create a great paper because I tend to repeat myself over and over about my topic which can make the paper overbearing.

Although, my paper was time consuming I found it to be a great and fun learning experience for me. I could even dare say that I would love to do scientific researches on day. It is true what they say practice makes perfect. I think I will continue to practice the methods that I have obtained in this course because they are sure to help me succeed in my future courses.

The Completion of my Research Paper

In these upcoming days, I am almost done with revising and adding the finishing touches to my research paper. With the days coming to an end I am feeling very anxious and nervous all at the same time. I guess, the anxiousness would be because I want to see my finalized product after all the hard work. The nervousness would be because I am not sure if I have created a paper that will earn me an A. I am sure that I have included everything that the professor expects to find while reading my paper and I have also utilized proper citation methods so I feel that I should be alright. However, writing a great paper is always nerve wrecking. I think I have also exhausted my brain functions with all the researching methods that I have used but it will serve as a great tool in my future studies.

My ideas of writing has changed dramatically. I look at writing in a very different way now because before I was somewhat intimidated by writing however; this course has prepared me by learning, different methods of writing, many different techniques used for revising and rewording and it has more importantly showed me how to perform thorough researches about a specific title for a paper. Other topics that I would find interesting to write about would be ADHD medications, Electric shock therapy, Lupus, Chemotherapy these are some titles that I feel would be interesting.

Issues throughout the writing process

During my writing process I have come across several issues. First, issue was that I had many different ideas of what to include in my research paper however, I didn't know how to compile all the information gathered. Second issue, was getting an outline started because it was a little complicated for me knowing that the outline would be holding all the ingredients necessary to build my paper. The last issue that I have is making sure that the paper is well organized in order to not only make sense but follow the formula on my outline as well as cover all three key points within my thesis statement.

I feel that given the opportunity for us to be able to post pieces of our papers within the units discussion boards is the greatest opportunity we have of getting constructive criticism. I really enjoy reading all the comment's that my fellow classmates for several reasons. One reason, the feedback's are very beneficial to me would be that they help me be aware of the many mistakes I could be making within the paper. Another, would be that the comments can give me useful information on how to revise and make my writing more comprehensible for my readers.

Blogging for me has been a great experience. This is the first time I have ever blogged and I enjoy it very much. Blogging can helps me share my personal experiences in writing with perfect strangers or classmates that can read my blogs as well as give comments on it. This tool for me takes the place of an actual writing journal in which I can freely express my opinions as well as personal experiences not only with the process of writing but with anything that I would like to talk about. I would really like to continue blogging and I can almost be sure that I will. I enjoy it very much and it has given me an opportunity to experience a new way of communicating with others.

My Personal Dealings with writting

In the past six weeks my personal dealings with writting have been fun, exciting, challanging and very informative. It has been a while since I have had to do a research paper so, in a way I felt like it is all new to me again. I must say that I have both obtained and learned a wealth of information during my research of my topic which is The Use of Anti-AIDS drugs for newborns. It was amazing to see how many articles there were on this topic. Currently, this is one of the most devastating disease ever known to mankind and through great research work I have learned that this disease drastically has become the worst epidemic all around the world. I really do enjoy the research portion of this assignment because it teaches me how to compose a great paper by performing a thorough research on a specific topic.

I think that many ideas I have for my paper will be influential later on because I will talk about all aspects of the very controversial issue of us of anti-AIDS drugs for newborns. There are issues like the lack of health insurance that a lot of times are overlooked as a major part of the reason why pregnant women or people are affected with the disease and cannot afford the treatments or because of the lack of insurance do not obtain preventive services which also plays an import reason of why AIDS is growing in our society instead of being controlled. This will make my paper a lot more interesting.

Peer Reviews

In my opinion, I really like peer reviews for several reasons. One of the reasons would be that I really enjoy reading the feedback from my fellow peers because a lot of times they may catch grammar errors or other errors which I may be overlooking. Another reason why I enjoy peer reviews would be that my peers could provide me with great insight on how to make my research paper better or more interesting.

In one of my previous courses our professor had the class post our research paper into the discussion board to have all our peers read it and give us feedback. My experience with my fellow classmates proof reading my work has been excellent. I have even changed several information included in my paper because the feedback helped me to catch things that I kept overlooking when I performed my own proofreading. An "Ah Ha"at moment for me would be when I was searching for information for my research paper in the school library. At first, I could not find sufficient information or data for my topic. So, I learned how to navigate through the library and finally I found so many different articles that were of great help to me.

The one thing that I found shocking throughout my research would be how bad the AIDS epidemic is in Africa. After my research, I cannot believe that the epidemic is in the millions and climbing each day more and more.

Personal experience with writing

These pas six weeks has been very overwhelming for me. I have learned so much about the writing process and how to utilize the writing skills to build a great paper. There are so many neat techniques that I could utilize like, brainstorming, outline and mapping method. The topic that I chose for my research paper is The Use of Anti-AIDS drugs in newborns which I have found a wealth of information. During my research, I have found out information pertaining to how pregnant women with AIDS could receive early treatments, numerous Anti-AIDS drugs, the effects of newborns being born with AIDS, statistical data and much more. The ideas on my topic that I have will be influential later in my research because it will help me build my paper piece per piece just like a puzzle. The more information that I find on my topic it will open more opportunities and areas of focus which will also be beneficial to me. With a topic so controversial, I would also have to be careful during my research in order to make sure that the information I obtain is correct information and not only based on opinions. In the end, I hope to successfully create a great paper that readers could enjoy and be interested in reading.

My personal writing process

Writing for me could be difficult sometimes. I can honestly say, that for me the hardest part is trying to figure out what I want to write about and the introduction. One technique that I use is brainstorming which really helps me a lot. I like to jot down ideas as they come to me then I sort it all out to organize the information. I find that a lot of times I get intimidated by the introduction because the introduction would be the writer's way to lure a reader and make them interested in reading the entire research paper. I also, like to have a strong thesis statement which would include 3 main key points as this will help me build my paper. One of my academic challenges would be to become a great writer. I hope that by the end of this term I would feel confident about writing research papers. The one academic challenge for me would be to overcome writer's block. I tend to get intimidated by the thought of having to do a research paper which causes me to have writer's block.

School has drastically influenced my life at this point for so many reasons. One way that school has influenced my live is by giving me the will not to give up in what I believe I can accomplish. I was very nervous attending school after 10 years out of school however, I have never worked so hard to achieve at something like I am with school. Today, I stand very proud at myself and hope that I can accomplish the goal that I have set out for myself.
